About Hazon Ovadiya

Hazon Ovadiya is a Shul that professes to be dedicated to enriching, inspiring and elevating the lives of the members of our community. And for a while, they did. Until the Vanounous took over the place.

The Vanounous value performance, so the Shul performed really, really, well. The prayers were beautiful. The food was of high calliber. The programming was so much fun!

Everything was wonderful. Until Moshe Vanounou's marriage imploded.

It was ugly.

But the ugliest part? All the talk about inspiring, and being kind, and following the values and morals and LAWS of our Torah didn't manifest in his divorce.

He was not kind. He did not follow the laws of the Torah, or its morals and values. He was vindictive, highly litigous, and to this day, has not yet provided his ex wife with a kosher Jewish writ of divorce. (A GET.)

And his parents and family? Supported him.

Financially. And otherwise.

As a matter of fact, they took the Rabbinical court of California to civil court. They sued them. For racism against their son, after he refused to comply with the Rabbinical court ruling and they imposed sanctions on him.

How can these people provide respect honor and care to members of the Jewish community, if they behave in ways that are not respectful, honorable or caring to the laws and practices that hold the community together??

They claim to strive to carry on the legacy of Maran HaRav Ovadya Yossef zt"l but blatantly disregard his writings regarding men who withhold the Get.

Moshe Vanounou is a Sarvan Get. As such, HARCHAKOT D'RABBEINU TAM are in order: One may not provide him with food, drink, lodging, or business, he is not counted in a minyan or given religious honors, and one may not engage with him in any way until the time he provides his wife with a kosher Jewish Get.

Anyone entering this lovely synagogue is desecrating the Torah and those who would withhold it. Anyone participating in this farce of a synagogue is blatantly disrespecting Maran HaRav Ovadya Yossef zt"l and his teachings.

The hypocrisy of this place is staggering.
